I’m Mackenzie, owner of Alt Mvmnt and an out and proud member of the queer community (I put the “L” in LGBTQ+)! But I wasn’t always…
Growing up, I never saw positive queer representation. In fact, I didn’t even know that I could be gay as a woman. Even when I realized that it was an option in my teen years (after many google searches), compulsive heterosexuality was my default and I, for the most part, stuffed that part of myself into a very small closet. Many years, a divorce, and countless therapy sessions later, I finally feel comfortable in who I am, who I love, and the fluid nature of life.
Pride isn’t just some party…
Pride is honoring, affirming, and supporting every identity within the LGBTQ+ community. It's about creating a space where individuals can express themselves authentically without fear of judgment or discrimination. This is especially crucial for the trans community, who face disproportionate levels of violence, discrimination, and systemic barriers.
While I’m just one gay woman trying to run her own business, I know that my actions (or inactions) matter. I feel an obligation, given my privilege, to give back and support those in my community who experience much higher levels of persecution and threat to their lives than I do.
So, I’m asking you to help me do just that:

I typically donate a portion of all my Alt Mvmnt proceeds to The Trevor Project, whose mission I fully support and resonate with. However, this year, with the increasingly volatile climate for trans people, I would like to be able to support someone (or a group) more directly and one that is trans focused.
If you are involved in or know of an organization or you know someone personally who has a gofundme, please reach out with the name of the org or details about an individual’s campaign.
